To Do List
Ok so gradually getting there. It seems though that the more I do the more I have to do. I’ve decided that I’m going to get the site up and then gradually rebuild templates here and there until everything is semantically correct. Currently there are a couple too many nested DIV’s and the ids are getting a little messy.
That said, I think I’m making progress. The CSS and XHTML validate on all pages except the 404, given that I’m a designer, this I am incredibly happy about, although, in truth I’ve only had to close a few tags, I’m sure its much more difficult to write from scratch.
So currently on my To Do List;
- Re name IDs to more give more semantic meaning;
- Amend Stylesheet to reflect above;
- Sort out DIV’s, currently too much nesting going on;
- Work out one consistent container style and apply as a class rather than using id based selectors;
- Re-visit calendar styles to include active link and todays date highlight;
- Work out what to do regarding graphic titles, image replacement, flash replacement or straight styles;
- Add padding top to search results;
- Add Graphic to template footer;
- Separate comments out into individual boxes;
- Develop a list style for standard content and recent entries;
- And finally, make 404 page validate as xhtml.
I’m sure theres loads more to do but this list will act a starting place and a reminder to keep going at.
BTW. Movable Type is actually pretty easy to use once you get started.
