Pizza menu and logo design

My first real print job, back in 2001 I was commissioned to create a menu for a couple who
had inherited a pizza shop (Rocket Pizza). Their vision was to go fresh, modern
and organic, leaving behind the stigma of fast food and opting for a more gourmet
clientele while still maintaining the same name so as not to lose any existing
customers.

Given that the brief was to be organic and fresh, a bright colour scheme was
developed focusing on green. In addition a potato stamp of the rocket was created
further emphasising the organic nature of the menu. This potato stamp would
then go on to be the new logo and was incorporated into all marketing and in-store
materials.

Optic Nerve flyers and posters

A series of flyers and posters created for a group of friends drum n’ bass club night in Melbourne.

Due to the limited budget of DIY club nights such as this we started out with black and white photocopied flyers and spray painted stencils. As the night grew in popularity moved up to 1 colour offset printing on uncoated stocks and A2 posters

The briefs were generally pretty open, with last minute line-up changes prior to printing a common occurance.

CCF Australia

Whilst working at Gruden I have been heavily
involved in the redevelopment of the CCF Australia
visual identity. Image treatments, typography and printing methods have been
introduced for the creation of a more unified brand across all media.

The sponsorship handbook, a 28 page booklet, utilised positive photography
where possible, focusing on the benefits of work being done rather than playing
on guilt and negative imagery.

A halftone image treatment was introduced to get more value from a limited
photographic resource. Many of the images on hand were shot on low res digital
camera. These images as halftones can be blown up to a full page spreads and
still maintain their visual integrity whether on four, two or single colour
print jobs.

In Wine Export logo and stationary design

This id was created for an Australian Wine Export start up. The brief was to create something sophisticated whilst maintaining an aussie sense of humor.

The ‘In Wine’ logo type, based on my own handwriting, was drawn, scanned and fattened up in illustrator. Eurostile extended was then used to set the word ‘export’. The Extended San-Serif offsetting the organic nature of the hand drawn type and creating a solid base for the logo.

A one colour print run meant that we could stretch a very small budget out to accommodate a printed back on the card and still allow for a nice un-coated stock.

Kunoichi logo and stationary design

This id was created for a Melbourne based, anime website, start-up. The brief was to create a cute / tekie logo to set the style for all marketing comunications.

The typeface, based on a singular shape, was specifically designed for the project. I am planning to eventually build a font from this logo at some point when I have a little free time.
